A long list of contaminants are hiding in all our most private spaces

We want you to know about them, not because we want to scare you,
but because we want you to be informed.

In the water and wastewater industry, they are referred to as Contaminants of Emerging Concern (CECs)

Introducing the Six Classes

A great place to start is by watching these six short videos produced by the Green Science Policy Institute. This series of short videos will introduce you to the “Six Classes” of chemicals that are known to harm human health and the environment. Each video summarises where one of these classes of chemicals is used, associated health problems, and how to reduce exposure.

PFAS or Highly Fluorinated Chemicals
Antimicrobials
Flame Retardants
Bisphenols & Phthalates
Solvents
Metals
